WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO TAKE UP YOUR CROSS AND FOLLOW JESUS?

This is one of the best theological discussions on this subject I've heard. Justin and Jon didn't have traumatic stress in mind when they put this together. However, PTSD is a vehicle God has used in my life to reveal to me that what I bring to the table, spiritually speaking, is utter failure on my part--and that's a good thing. It is NOT a call to self-abasement and self-sacrifice. To say, as many do, that "one must be willing to die in order to follow Jesus," and that "dying to self is an absolute surrender to God,"1 is what Jesus means is to completely miss the point.
The entire context points us in a different direction. This podcast injects PTSD with nourishment for the daily battles combat has presented us.
